I have been blessed to grow up in a family that is saved and given their lives to Christ, which enabled me to be saved from a very early age. Everyone on my mother’s side of the family is saved, so to get to fellowship together and tell of the latest and greatest that God has accomplished in our lives is one of my favorite treats!
I would like to share a testimony with you from my cousin, Kylah and her husband Antonie. This story definitely demonstrates the power our God has, and the authority available to us in Jesus name!
One Sunday morning after church, my cousin’s husband Antonie, received a phone call from one of the female staff members at work. The staff member was hysterical and asked them to please come over as her husband was trying to commit suicide.
On their way to the house, Kylah prayed for the staff member’s husband and herself, asking the Lord to send His angels before them for protection (Psalm 91). They took up the armor of God (Ephesians 6), prayed for boldness and the Holy Spirit’s leading.
When they arrived at the house, a little 5 year old girl came running towards Kylah– screaming and crying, telling her that she loves her daddy, but that the dad was busy killing himself! Kylah took the little girl in her arms and told her that everything was going to be okay and that the Lord Jesus was going to help them. Kylah asked the little girl to take them to her daddy. The little girl led them to the back of the house. They found the father tied with electric wires to a transformer box. He was planning on electrocuting himself! His wife was standing next to him, pleading with him to untie himself, pleading with him to think of the children. Their little two year old boy ran up to his dad and started pulling on his leg and saying, “Come daddy, come!”
As Kylah stood there she could not believe what was happening before her eyes. She recounted how she felt like David who had been faced with this giant Goliath! Kylah stood back for a while, whispered a prayer and asked God to lead her. Kylah asked the woman to take the kids and go inside. Kylah then walked up to the husband, put her arm on the box and her other hand on his shoulder. At first Kylah’s husband wanted to stop her from touching him or the box in fear that she would get shocked herself; but she wasn’t scared. She said that she did not come with worldly ways, but with the power of God!
She prayed and spoke to him for about 30-45 minutes. She said the way the Holy Spirit was leading her in her prayers and her chats with him was just amazing! The suicidal father then told Kylah to call his wife. Kylah went back and got his wife. When they came back up, the wife went and stood closer to him and Kylah and her husband stood back. His wife started pleading and crying again, but the suicidal man would not budge. Kylah’s husband started talking to the man and Kylah praised the Holy Spirit for leading Antonie and giving him words of wisdom.
At that stage, Kylah knelt down and kept on saying, “I command that electricity not to flow in the name of Jesus!” The suicidal man went ahead and put on the switch 3 times!! But our faithful God intervened with His own hand of power and not an ounce of electricity flowed! After the 3rd attempt to electrocute himself, he stood back, looked up at Kylah and Antonie, ripped the wires off his wrists and fell to his knees in tears!
PRAISE THE LORD THE ELECTRICITY DID NOT FLOW!!!
Afterwards, they did switch it on and there was electricity flowing!!
Antonie was with him for a while praying for him, and Kylah went back to the house and comforted his wife and children.
The police then arrived and Kylah went out to meet them. The police advised Kylah that the negotiator was on his way, but she told them, “You can tell your negotiator to turn around and go home, JESUS NEGOTIATED FOR US TODAY!!”
Be blessed, be bold, we serve a MIGHTY GOD!!!!

Miracles. Some say they only happened in bible times. I think people who have great faith see miracles happen everyday. I think about my fly story. You may get a kick out of this, but it happened!
It was 2006. I was in the bathroom getting ready for my day. Everyone was gone but me. There was this annoying fly buzzing around the bathroom. Now, here’s a secret: my husband likes to kill flies using hairspray. He squirts the buzzing fly with hairspray as it is zipping around. Soon, the fly’s wings stiffen and the fly plummets to the ground. (it is funny). However, that is not my chosen method of pest removal. The hairspray gets all over the mirror and the counter. Anyways, this fly was annoying me and I was trying to swat at it with a hand towel to no avail. After trying several times and failing, a thought popped into my head: ”Speak to the fly.”
(Remember when Jesus was on the boat and there was a severe storm?)
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” Matthew 8:23-27
So, I stuck my arm out with my palm pointed at the annoying pest, closed my eyes, and in faith said, “Peace. Be still, in Jesus name.”
The fly immediately landed on the counter! My mouth dropped open in disbelief and amazement. It didn’t move! Well, I didn’t have the heart to kill it, since it obeyed. I left the bathroom a few minutes later with that fly remaining stationary on the counter.
Miracles still happen. We just need to exercise our faith.
Thank you Caddie for sharing Kylah’s story with us!
